Image hero split

Theme section

The Image hero split section provides a highly-customizable feature for your boldest product imagery with two side-by-side hero images. Create a unique section with promotional content, multiple buttons, and comprehensive image settings.

Set up section

Add this section to any template (except Checkout) and use the drag-and-drop handles to re-order its position. You can add this section multiple times with different content and settings.

Editing a template changes all pages that use that template. To edit specific pages, you can create new templates or insert dynamic content with metafields

STEPS

In your theme editor (Customize):

  1. Select a Template to edit from the dropdown menu in the top bar.

Learn how to use templates in our Templates guide.

  2. Under Template, click (+) Add section and select Image hero split.

  3. Click and hold the drag-and-drop handles ⋮⋮ to re-order your sections.

Set up hero image

Upload two Images and fine-tune their Height, Focal point, and color Overlay or Gradient. Add a Mobile-specific image for the best results on smaller screens.

STEPS

In your theme editor (Customize):

  1. Click on an Image hero split block to open the settings.

There are no required images dimensions. We simply recommend uploaded images have a minimum width of 2050px for optimal quality across all devices.

  3. (Optional.) Upload a Mobile image to display only on mobile devices.

You may want a different image that works best with mobile screen dimensions, for example a portrait shaped image.

  4. Use Image focal points to specify the main focus of your images. The focal point of your image will remain centered and within frame when your site adapts to different screen sizes.

See our image guide to learn more about specifying a focal point for an image used within a section or for an uploaded image file when used anywhere on your site.

  5. Enter text for the Heading as a title overlayed on top of the image block.

  6. Enter Text for a subheading beneath the heading to say more. We recommend a short sentence or two.

Use the formatting buttons to add text styles, links, or lists. To learn more, see Shopify's Rich text editor guide ↗.

  7. Select or paste a URL for the Button link.

  8. Enter text for the Button label. If left blank, the entire image will be a clickable link.

The most effective button labels ask customers to do something (e.g. Get started, Join us, Shop now). To learn more, read "What is a Call to Action?"

  9. Select a Button style: either Solid, Outline, or Text.

Click on the Image hero split section to find the color options for buttons.
